Police have arrested a 41-year-old man in Gulu District in connection with the killing of 18-year-old student Martin Bukenya, an incident that shocked residents of Mabanda Cell in Gombe Division, Wakiso District.
The suspect, identified as Musasizi Herbert, was apprehended following coordinated efforts by security agencies to track him down outside Wakiso. He is currently in custody and is expected to be transferred to the relevant jurisdiction to face charges upon completion of investigations.
According to Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson SP Rachael Kawala, the fatal incident occurred on February 14, 2026, at around 8:00 pm at the suspect’s residence in Mabanda Cell, Gombe Division, Nansana Municipality.
Preliminary investigations indicate that Musasizi allegedly assaulted Bukenya after reportedly finding him inside his home with his 14-year-old daughter, leading to the teenager’s death.
The deceased, Martin Bukenya, was a student at Hillside Secondary School and a resident of Kirinyabigo, Kawanda in Nabweru Division, Wakiso District.
Police have urged the public to remain calm and avoid spreading unverified information as detectives finalize inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the fatal incident. Authorities have assured the community that appropriate legal action will be taken in accordance with the law.
