The Member of Parliament-elect for Bunyaruguru, Benjamin Buturo, has called on Christians to embrace unity, kindness, love, sacrifice, and forgiveness as they celebrate Easter.
Buturo made the remarks on Sunday while addressing Catholics at Rugazi Catholic Parish during Easter celebrations.
He urged Christians to practice total repentance, discipline, and hard work, noting that these values are essential for living a fruitful life on earth.
The MP-elect also encouraged parents to reconnect with their families by reflecting on values such as compassion, love, and togetherness. He noted that Easter brings peace, joy, and a renewed sense of hope that should inspire communities.
Buturo thanked residents for entrusting him with overwhelming support in the elections and pledged to work closely with the community to address their challenges. He also committed to lobbying government for development projects aimed at improving household livelihoods.
He further urged residents to reflect on God’s teachings as a solution to modern-day challenges, emphasizing the need for reconciliation, peace, and teamwork. He called on families to work together to improve their livelihoods and combat poverty, hunger, and domestic violence.
Meanwhile, the parish priest of Rugazi, Rev. Faaza Alphonse Mukundane, advised parents to prioritize the safety and well-being of their children during the Easter festivities.
Rev. Mukundane urged families to spend responsibly and avoid reckless expenditure that could neglect children’s basic needs and safety. He emphasized that Easter should be a time for reflection and family bonding.
He also reminded Christians that the death of Jesus Christ represents forgiveness, redemption, empathy, and compassion, values that should guide believers during the holy season.
