In his first detailed public address since being elected, Erute South Member of Parliament-elect Sam Engola (NRM) has outlined a robust and immediate development plan for the constituency, confidently asserting that he will fulfill all his campaign pledges within the next year.
Speaking on his vision for the future, Engola made a bold comparative prediction: “Erute South will be more developed than Lira City.” This statement sets a high benchmark for the transformation he intends to lead in the 12th Parliament.
Central to his actionable plan are several key projects already in motion, backed by significant financial commitments:
1. Major Infrastructure Boost: Electricity and Water
Engola has secured a substantial2.4 Billion UGX from the Ministry of Energy to fund the extension of the electricity grid across Erute South. This project aims to connect households and businesses, spurring economic activity and improving quality of life.
Simultaneously, addressing critical water needs, the MP-elect announced a partnership with various NGOs to fund the construction of 100 new boreholes. He confirmed that work on these has already begun. Furthermore, his efforts have led to the successful repair of 117 existing boreholes, ensuring a reliable water supply for thousands of constituents.
2. Direct Investment in Education
In a move targeting academic excellence,Engola revealed a significant personal commitment to education. He is personally investing 12 Million UGX monthly to provide school assessment papers for pupils. He directly linked this intervention to the noticeable improvement in the recent Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) results within the constituency.
3. A Pledge of Accountability and Speed
Perhaps his most definitive promise was regarding his timeline for delivery.“I need only one year to complete every promise I have made to the people of Erute South,” Engola declared. This statement underscores a commitment to rapid, tangible results and sets a clear deadline for accountability.
The MP-elect’s comprehensive plan appears to strategically tackle the foundational pillars of development: infrastructure (electricity), essential services (water), and human capital (education). His report of already-secured funds and ongoing projects suggests a focus on hitting the ground running upon the commencement of the new parliamentary term.
As Erute South anticipates this promised wave of development, constituents will be watching closely to see the translation of these plans into visible, life-changing progress on the ground within the pledged timeframe.
