NSSF Recognises Lira Central Nursery and Primary School Among Best Compliance Institutions in 2026 Award

Lira, Uganda —  Lira Central Nursery and Primary School has proudly clinched the title of Best Employer in Compliance for 2026, awarded by the National Social Security Fund (NSSF). This accolade not only highlights the school’s exemplary practices but also marks it as the sole institution in the Lango, Acholi, and West Nile sub-regions to achieve such recognition.

The award ceremony, which took place at the Margaaritha Palace Hotel on March 25, 2026, was a jubilant occasion for the school’s Director, Omonya Jerry, and Headteacher, Okwir Tom, members of the board, among others who expressed their happiness at receiving this prestigious honor.

In a heartfelt interview from the school premises, Headteacher Okwir Tom emphasized that the award is a testament to the school’s unwavering commitment to discipline and teamwork.

“This achievement shows that our systems are working correctly and that we are committed to doing things the right way the authorities in government want,” he remarked. Lira Central Nursery and Primary School prides itself on its robust staffing policies, with 107 employees—comprising teachers, support, and administrative staff—fully registered with NSSF. The school adheres strictly to national regulations by contributing 5% of employees’ salaries and 10% of the school’s remittance to the NSSF, ensuring that staff welfare is prioritized and upheld.

Director Omonya Jerry further highlighted that the success of Lira Central lies in the institution’s focus on employee benefits, which directly correlates with improved performance and productivity. The school has not only excelled in compliance but has also maintained commendable standards in financial management, ensuring that salaries are paid promptly, typically before the 21st of each month, with no reported delays. Other institutions that received NSSF awards include Trays for the Future, Gold Mission EC-Ngetta, and Lira Regional Referral Hospital, showcasing a wider commitment to compliance across various sectors.

In addition to its accolades, Lira Central Nursery and Primary School is currently undergoing infrastructural development, with investments of over UGX 700 million, including girls’ dormitory.

This expansion includes the construction of new classroom blocks, dormitories, and upgrading boarding facilities, further enhancing the educational environment for its learners. As Director Omonya stated, the school’s commitment to not only improve its operational standards but also to invest in its physical infrastructure reflects a holistic approach to education and staff welfare.

The leadership of Lira Central commended NSSF for promoting accountability and recognizing institutions that adhere to high standards of employee management, paving the way for a brighter future for both staff and students alike.

Omonya promised to pay the school’s remittance to NSSF on time and pledged to win another award next year.
