Over 2,000 Attend Bamasaaba Cultural Symposium in Mbale

Mbale City, Uganda –  Over the weekend, more than 2,000 people gathered in Mbale City to attend the second coronation anniversary of His Highness the Umukuka III, Jude Mike Mudoma, the cultural leader of the Bamasaaba.

According to Steven Masiga, the spokesperson of the Bugisu Cultural Institution, thousands of Bamasaaba from Uganda and abroad thronged the city on Saturday to celebrate the milestone.

In his address, His Highness the Umukuka warmly welcomed all his guests, including members of the Bamasaaba community, clan chairpersons, and international visitors. Among the notable guests were Rev. Dr. Zagery Oliver from the United States of America, Dr. Monday Akubuokwu, Dr. Francis Nora, Rev. Vandolin, Senator Maya Rumantin, Esther Ibanga, and Joseph Mwila from Zambia, among others.

“Distinguished brothers and sisters, esteemed leaders, and honoured friends, I am humbled and energized by your presence at today’s symposium,” said His Highness as he emphasized the importance of unity and solidarity among the Bamasaaba and the broader African community.

The Umukuka also appreciated the Government of Uganda for its continued support and extended special thanks to the Hon. Minister of State for Gender, who represented President Yoweri Museveni at the function.

In a series of speeches, several guests expressed admiration for the Umukuka’s leadership:

  • Dr. Okon Jean Louis from Cameroon praised the Umukuka for promoting integration and unity within the kingdom.
  • Rev. Dr. Zagery Oliver from the United States thanked His Highness for his powerful leadership, adding:

“I consider myself African because my ancestors were unfortunately shipped as slaves to the United States and the Caribbean around 400 years ago.”

  • Joseph Mwila, a delegate from Zambia, expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality.
  • Esther Ibanga from the Ignite House of Worship in Nigeria commended the Umukuka for his immense love for his people, concluding her remarks with a blessing:

“God bless Uganda, Nigeria, Zambia, Indonesia, America, and Africa. Our collective flags make a beautiful tapestry.”

Meanwhile, all Bamasaaba clan chairpersons present applauded the Umukuka for his visionary leadership and wished him a long and successful reign as he continues to guide his people.
