Over 23 million shillings, including both cash and pledges, along with 154 bags of cement, have been collected for the construction of the Kigezi Technical Institute in Rubanda District. The fundraising event was held at Karukara Playground in Hamurwa Town Council, with the construction site located in Harutenga, along Kabale-Ruhija Road in Ikumba Sub-County, Rubanda District.
Jacqueline Katabazi, a parliamentary hopeful for Rubanda District, praised the Kabale Muslim District Council for initiating the technical institute. She highlighted that the institution will create employment opportunities for the local population. Katabazi contributed 1 million shillings and pledged to seek additional funds from her network.
Rubanda District LC5 Chairperson Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba commended the Kabale Muslim District Council for choosing Rubanda as the site for the technical institute.
He noted that the district previously had only one technical institute and emphasized that the new institution will benefit not just Rubanda but the entire nation. Kasyaba also reminded the authorities about the land allocated for a mosque in Karegyere Parish, Muko Sub-County, Rubanda West, and pledged to provide additional land after conducting surveys. He committed to addressing all requests from the Kabale District Khadhi.
Hon. Prossy Akampurira, Rubanda District Woman MP, was represented by her husband Mbabazi Apollo, who donated 100 bags of cement towards the construction.
Kabale Muslim District Kadhi Sheikh Kabu Lule praised Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba for his support of Islam and other religions. He requested assistance with processing the land title.
Hon. Henry Musasizi Ariganyira, State Minister for Finance General Duties and Rubanda East MP, contributed 5 million shillings towards the construction. He was represented by Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba as the chief guest.
