Mr. David Kalemera, Senior Presidential Advisor and Head of the State House Revenue Intelligence and Strategic Operations Unit, has praised President Yoweri Museveni’s administration for achieving significant milestones in the full monetization of Uganda’s economy.

According to Kalemera, the NRM government has made tremendous progress in promoting economic growth and development through strategic initiatives in commercial agriculture, industrialization, expanding and broadening services, digital transformation, and market access.

Kalemera’s statement has been published in The Uganda Hidden Facts Booklet, which contains 120 reasons why Ugandans support President Yoweri Museveni, and 100 descriptions of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The booklet also features achievements statements from 100 carefully selected personalities in Uganda, described as the Uganda top 100 Development Champions. Kalemera is dedicated to creating awareness and information dissemination of the achievements of H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. Despite being a government official, he is also a successful private sector developer with passion on achieving a vibrant private sector to drive our economy hence boosting revenue collection.

As a result of these efforts, Uganda’s exports have increased by USD 2.534 billion to USD 7.471 billion, representing a 34 percent growth. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the government’s effective export promotion strategy, which has driven growth in key sectors such as gold, coffee, and oil re-exports.

Kalemera noted that efforts to increase value addition to exports have continued to yield positive results. Exports of manufactured products have continued to be significant contributors of export earnings. In particular, in 2023, cement exports reached USD 91.1 million, sugar USD 75.8 million, plastic products USD 62.6 million, soap USD 33.9 million, and beer USD 25.8 million.

The government has strengthened efforts to increase export performance through investing in targeted value addition initiatives and implementing several enabling trade policies. This Financial Year 2023/24, the government is committed to building on these successes to drive further growth and development in Uganda’s economy.

As the Senior Presidential Advisor and Head of the State House Revenue Intelligence and Strategic Operations Unit, Kalemera plays a crucial role in overseeing the operations of the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) and fighting corruption within the tax administration system. His unit is tasked with closing revenue leakages and boosting tax collection, which is essential for Uganda’s economic growth and development.

Kalemera has demonstrated his commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in Uganda’s revenue collection systems. His leadership expertise has been invaluable in shaping Uganda’s revenue collection policies and strategies. With his experience in revenue collection and management, Kalemera has developed effective solutions to combat corruption and boost revenue collection.

In conclusion, President Museveni’s administration has made significant strides in promoting economic growth and development in Uganda. The government’s efforts to increase exports, promote value addition, and strengthen revenue collection have yielded positive results. As the country continues to grow and develop, it is essential that the government remains committed to promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance in all aspects of economic management.
