RUBANDA – Rubanda District has received a brand-new Toyota Hilux Double Cabin (Registration No. UG 1200677) from the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) to enhance agricultural extension services across the district.
The vehicle was officially handed over at the district headquarters to support the implementation of the Uganda Climate Smart Agricultural Transformation Project (UCSATP), an initiative aimed at improving agricultural productivity and resilience among farmers.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, Rubanda District Chief Administrative Officer Samuel Ahabwe said the new vehicle will be deployed by the District Production Department to strengthen extension services and improve outreach to farmers in all sub-counties.
Ahabwe urged district officials to ensure the vehicle is properly maintained and managed in accordance with government guidelines to guarantee its longevity and effectiveness.
“We must take good care of this vehicle and ensure it is used strictly for its intended purpose of serving our farmers,” he said.
Rubanda District LCV Chairperson Hon. Ampeire Stephen Kasyaba also emphasized the importance of responsible use, noting that the vehicle is a public asset intended to improve service delivery.
“This vehicle carries people’s lives. It must be kept in good condition at all times,” Kasyaba said.
He cautioned officers against personalizing or misusing the government vehicle, stressing that it belongs to the people of Rubanda and should remain available for official duties.
“The district cannot get stuck when we have a vehicle. Let us use it to deliver services to our farmers,” he added.
The acquisition of the new Toyota Hilux is expected to improve mobility for agricultural extension workers, enabling them to reach more farming communities and support the implementation of climate-smart agriculture initiatives throughout Rubanda District.
