Suspended Rubirizi Official Denies Corruption Claims, Says Probe Will Clear His Name

Mr Richard Munori

RUBIRIZI, Uganda — The suspended Secretary of the District Service Commission, Mr Richard Munori, has dismissed allegations of corruption and defended his conduct, stating that his suspension is intended to facilitate ongoing police investigations.

Speaking following the announcement of his suspension, Munori said claims that he solicited money from applicants in exchange for jobs are false and malicious, and are aimed at damaging his reputation.

“I categorically deny the allegations that I received money from individuals in exchange for employment opportunities. These claims are baseless and intended to tarnish my name,” he said.

He urged the public to remain calm and allow security agencies to carry out their investigations, noting that the truth will be established once the process is concluded within the anticipated two-week timeframe.

Munori acknowledged irregularities in the recruitment process, particularly concerning the list of shortlisted candidates. He explained that the list had been tampered with but was subsequently corrected, and the revised version issued to candidates scheduled for interviews.

“I appeal to the people of Rubirizi to remain patient and allow due process to take its course,” he said. “The allegations being circulated are unfounded and meant to damage my public image.”

He further challenged individuals alleging that he demanded money for jobs to formally present evidence to the relevant authorities rather than making unverified public claims.

“Anyone with credible information should come forward and report to the police with evidence,” he added.

Munori maintained that he has executed his duties in accordance with the Public Service Commission Act, upholding professionalism and ethical standards. He emphasized that, to the best of his knowledge, he has not committed any offence and attributed the situation to administrative errors that have since been rectified.
