Ntoroko, Uganda — A section of residents of Ntoroko District have raised concerns against some former civil servants who are running up and down in different offices circulating malicious allegations against staff who have put Ntoroko District on the map.
Ms Annette Kabahiigi, one of the residents, said service delivery in the district has greatly improved due to the current administration.
She said they were concerned by the documents circulated in the names of Mr Kiseka Anwar, who was a former employee in the position of secretary, accusing the Chief Administrative Officer and other civil servants of selling jobs and demanding kickbacks, something the community has refuted as an effort aimed at frustrating the war against corruption by Mr Moses Agum and his entire team.
“When Ntoroko was carved out of Bundibugyo, there were a lot of problems, corruption, job selling, and nepotism, but ever since this Chief Administrative Officer was brought here, everything is now normal. Health centres are doing well compared to the previous Chief Administrative Officers.”
Ms Pricillar Komuhangi, another resident, said the same person running up and down tarnishing the image of the current CAO and his team is the same person who had dragged the town council and district to court but lost.
“That’s his habit and we shall not allow him to portray Ntoroko District as one district where people will fear to come and work. We want service delivery, not his petty issues,” she said.
Mr John Bosco Burungibwansi, another resident, urged the current administration to continue doing the right thing in the interest of the public, not individual interests.
“We are watching what’s going on and we have known the people who want to fail Ntoroko District, but we shall not allow them,” he said.
Several attempts to get a comment from Kiseka Anwar were futile as his known phone was off.
