Amolatar, Uganda – Kamilo Olwit has been declared the new National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman for Amolatar District after securing a decisive victory in the party’s grassroots elections.
The NRM Returning Officer for Amolatar, Henry Ojok, announced the results, confirming that Olwit polled 303 votes, defeating the incumbent chairman, James Olobo Dubai, who garnered 232 votes. Another contender, Leo Ocen, received 3 votes.
In his acceptance speech, Olwit thanked the delegates for their trust and pledged to work towards unity and development in the district.
Call for Unity
Addressing the delegates, George Oputto, a representative from the Office of the NRM Electoral Commission, urged winners to embrace their opponents for the sake of peace and party cohesion.
“We must work together as one NRM family. The winners should extend a hand of cooperation to those who did not succeed, and together, we can strengthen our party,” Oputto emphasized.
Other Election Results
In the race for Secretary for Publicity, the results were as follows:
- Opio Samuel 11 votes
- Arap Francisco – 1 vote
- Oyuku Harafat– 69 votes
- Okucu Alfred – 301 votes (winner)
For the position of Secretary for Finance, Akello Aminahemerged unopposed with 311 votesafter her competitors, Auma Nancy and Joseph Angole, failed to appear for the election.
A New Chapter for Amolatar NRM
The election marks a significant shift in leadership for the ruling party in Amolatar District. With Olwit at the helm, the NRM looks forward to renewed mobilization efforts and grassroots engagement ahead of future national elections.
Delegates expressed optimism, hoping that the new leadership will foster inclusivity and drive development initiatives in the district.
