Arsenal are edging closer to a potentially historic Champions League campaign, with Mikel Arteta’s side still unbeaten and just two matches away from lifting the trophy in Budapest.
The Gunners have enjoyed a remarkable European run this season, recording 10 wins and three draws so far. They have scored 28 goals and conceded only six, underlining a strong balance between attack and defence as they progressed through the competition.
Arsenal finished top of the league phase before eliminating Bayer Leverkusen and Sporting CP in the knockout rounds to reach the semi-finals.
In the first leg of their semi-final clash on 29 April, Arsenal held Atletico Madrid to a 1–1 draw away from home, keeping the tie finely balanced ahead of the return leg at the Emirates Stadium. A win in London would send them through to the final in Budapest on 31 May.
The possibility of an unbeaten Champions League triumph has sparked excitement among fans, with comparisons being made to rare European feats such as Bayern Munich’s 2020 and Manchester City’s 2023 title-winning campaigns.
Arsenal supporters are also dreaming of a historic double, with the club still in contention for the Premier League title. With four matches remaining, Arteta’s side sit on 73 points and remain firmly in the race at the top of the table.
Talk has also emerged among fans about a potential “golden UCL” narrative if Arsenal complete the season unbeaten in Europe, similar in spirit to their famous 2003/04 “Invincibles” Premier League season. However, there is no official recognition of such a distinction in UEFA competitions.
For now, attention turns to the decisive second leg at the Emirates, where Arsenal’s European dream will either continue or come to an end.
