Kiboga District’s LC5 Chairperson, Mr. Gerald Nsiro Ssalongo, has taken the bold step of suspending his deputy, Mr. Moses Ssenjogera, citing insubordination, poor service delivery, and a breach of the oath of secrecy. The suspension was communicated through a letter dated January 9, where Ssalongo expressed disappointment in Ssenjogera’s failure to meet expectations.

Addressing the media on Monday, Mr. Ssenjogera defended his position, asserting that the chairperson lacked the authority to interdict him from office. He emphasized that the guidelines for interdiction were beyond the chairperson’s jurisdiction. Despite the suspension from the role of vice-chairperson, Ssenjogera highlighted that he retained his position as a district councillor.

Ssalongo, in his justification for the suspension, revealed that he had entrusted Ssenjogera with powers to represent him on various occasions and serve the people of Kiboga. However, he accused the deputy of failing to deliver and attempting to undermine his leadership.

“He wanted to fail me as district chairperson by failing to deliver. I have decided to terminate his services as the vice-chairperson and the district’s secretary for education,” Ssalongo declared on Tuesday.

The suspension comes with a directive for Ssenjogera to stay out of office until a new vice-chairperson is announced in the upcoming council meeting.
