Police Investigate Aggravated Robbery of Mineral Dealer in Busia

The Police have launched an investigation into an aggravated robbery that occurred during the night of February 15, extending into the early hours of February 16, 2024, in Busuwu Village within Busia Municipality.

The victim, identified as Raphael Osakye, a 34-year-old male adult and contractor at Wagagai Gold Mining Company, was returning home from Busia Town after an evening out when the incident transpired, according to Moses Mugwe, the acting police spokesperson for Bukedi South Region.




Upon diverting from Busuwu Road and proceeding towards his residence approximately one kilometer off the road within Busuwu Village, Osakye was ambushed by unknown assailants, Mugwe reported.




The perpetrators subjected Osakye to a brutal assault, resulting in head injuries, and forcefully robbed him of an unspecified amount of money, Mugwe further disclosed.




Following the incident, a case file was opened at Solo Police Post in Busia district, prompting a comprehensive investigation by law enforcement authorities. A team comprising homicide investigators, Scene of Crime officers, and canine units visited the crime scene to gather evidence and record statements from relevant witnesses.

Currently, the Police are actively conducting inquiries to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for the robbery, with the intention of bringing them to justice.
