Minister of Internal Affairs Gen Kahinda Otafiire has delivered a stirring rebuke to the idea of Uganda becoming a dynastic kingdom ruled by a single family in a recent interview.

Otafiire, a stalwart of the National Resistance Army (NRA), made it abundantly clear that he and his comrades did not shed blood and tears merely to witness power being passed down like an heirloom from father to son.

With a voice as thunderous as the Murchison Falls, he declared, “We did not march, we did not fight, we did not sacrifice for Uganda to become a playground for a single family.”

With every word, Otafiire transported listeners back to the trenches of the bush war, where young men and women, fueled by dreams of a brighter future, took up arms against tyranny and oppression in the days of President Milton Obote. “We fought for democracy,” he proclaimed, “not for the coronation of kings and princes.”

In his inimitable style, Otafiire painted a vivid picture of a future Uganda where political power is not determined by lineage, but by merit and the will of the people. “Imagine,” he mused, “a land where leaders are chosen not because of who their fathers were, but because of their vision, their integrity, and their commitment to the common good.”

But the general’s words were not merely a call to arms; they were a warning, a rallying cry to his fellow countrymen and women to remain vigilant in the face of creeping dynastic ambitions. “Beware,” he cautioned, “for if we allow one family to entrench itself in power, we risk losing everything we’ve fought for.”

With a hint of mischief in his smile, Otafiire took aim at those who would seek to perpetuate their rule through bloodline alone. “Let them prove themselves on the battlefield of ideas,” he quipped, “not on the birth certificate of their fathers.”

As the interview drew to a close, Gen Otafiire left no doubt about where he stood in the struggle for Uganda’s soul. “We are a nation of warriors,” he declared, “and we will not be ruled by monarchs in all but name. Our destiny is ours to shape, and we will not allow it to be dictated by the whims of a privileged few.”

  • if it were a dynasty mk would not be mobilising crown princes dont mobilize they wait to be crowned but in this case mk is mobilising like any ugandan and i think democracy gives the people power to vote for him not otafire to decide for us whats wrong with a son of a president being voted a president. Mk is being targeted unfairly. He is as human as anybody.
