Usuk County Member of Parliament, Hon. Bosco Okiror, has generously donated 42 goats to the Usuk LC1 saving group, aligning with the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) “No Poverty” to uplift household livelihoods.
Hon. Bosco Okiror has embraced the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), recognizing their potential for sustainable, universal, and ambitious development, driven by the people, for the people.
The SDGs, also known as the Global Goals, were adopted by the United Nations in 2015, serving as a universal call to action to eradicate poverty, safeguard the environment, and ensure peace and prosperity for all by 2030.
Achieving the SDGs requires the collective contribution of creativity, knowledge, technology, and financial resources from all sectors of society.
During the handover ceremony, Hon. Bosco Okiror emphasized his commitment to sustainable development and combating poverty by pledging to provide goats to all registered saving groups in his Usuk constituency.
“I have initiated this effort with the LCs whom I assisted in forming and registering their savings groups. They will help compile the list of saving groups in their respective villages,” stated Okiror.
In his pledge to eradicate poverty, Hon. Bosco Okiror assured residents that the goats would receive monthly veterinary care for an entire year, funded by his office.
Expressing gratitude, beneficiary Edingor John Bosco thanked the MP for his visionary initiatives, unprecedented in their impact on the community.
“In 2026, you will return, and we will rally behind you. Nobody has ever shown us such appreciation,” remarked Edingor.
