A Rwandan man found himself in a world of trouble when he decided to break into a local shop in Kabale. The outcome? Well, let’s just say it didn’t end well for him.
It was just another day in the scenic hills of Kirisa village, Kahungye sub county Kabale district, where life usually moves at a pace slower than a tortoise on a leisurely stroll. But on this particular Monday, March 25, 2024, things took a dark turn.
Elias Twizeye, a Rwandan fella, apparently thought it was a brilliant idea to try his luck at breaking into someone else’s shop. Now, in most places, that’s a surefire way to invite trouble. But in Kabale? Well, let’s just say the locals take their shop security very, very seriously.
According to the official report (because apparently, we need official reports for even the most obvious things), Twizeye was caught red handed by none other than the shop owner himself with his hand in the cookie jar.
As if being busted by the shop owner wasn’t bad enough, Twizeye had to deal with the wrath of the entire village, or at least a good chunk of it – we’re talking about a good old fashioned mob.
Now, imagine being in Twizeye’s shoes (or sandals, because let’s be real, we’re talking about Kabale here). You’re surrounded by angry villagers, probably waving sticks and shouting phrases like “Kakyebezi!” (which loosely translates to “He’s a thief!” but with extra dramatic flair). It’s like something straight out of a B-grade horror movie, except, you know, real.
Long story short (too late, I know), Twizeye didn’t make it out alive. Yep, you read that right. The poor guy met his untimely demise right then and there, all because of a little breaking and entering. Talk about a rough day at the office.
Now, before you start feeling too sorry for Twizeye, it’s worth noting that mob justice seems to be all the rage in Kabale these days. According to official police reports (because apparently, we need official reports for everything), there were over a thousand cases of mob justice in 2023 alone. Let that sink in. Over a thousand! It’s like everyone in Kabale suddenly decided to take law enforcement into their own hands, with disastrous results.
So, what’s the moral of the story here? Well, for starters, maybe don’t break into other people’s shops. And if you do, definitely don’t do it in Kabale. Trust me, it’s just not worth it.
