500 Million Reasons: Zaake Validated. Mpuuga Defiant.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has dropped a bombshell, confirming Hon. Zaake Francis as the legitimate commissioner while Hon. Mathias Mpuuga stubbornly clings to his seat like a stubborn goat on a hill.

You see, when NUP sent their official letter to Parliament, they knew Ms. Anita Among, the Chair of the Parliamentary Commission, would defend Mpuuga as if he were a prized cow at a cattle show. After all, she’s been hailed by the powers that be for her ‘persuasive’ skills in bringing opposition leaders to the ruling party faster than a speeding bullet train.

And what a twist it was!

During a parliamentary commission meeting chaired by Ms. Among (coincidence? I think not), a hefty sum of 500 million shillings magically found its way into Mpuuga’s pockets, much to the dismay of NUP.

Their letter had three objectives, they say:

Firstly, to officially tell Parliament, “Oi! We don’t like corruption, okay?”

Secondly, to remind everyone that Zaake is their guy for the commissioner job, no matter what Parliament’s magic tricks may imply.

And thirdly, to make it crystal clear that when Parliament decides to do the corruption cha-cha again NUP’s hands will be squeaky clean. At least, that’s what they want us to believe.

But Mpuuga is not one to go down without a fight. He organized a press conference faster than a chicken chasing a grasshopper and declared, “I ain’t leavin’ this party, comrades! Instead, I’m gonna whip it into shape like a chef making Matooke.”

He promised a makeover for NUP, swearing to kick out corruption, nepotism, and all the other naughty practices.

And just when you thought the drama couldn’t get thicker than a rolex, he teased the public with a mysterious future announcement.

Stay tuned for the next episode of “As the Parliament Turns,” where anything can happen, and often does. For God and my country, indeed.
