The Sad Demise of Gloria Uwimana
Authorities in Kabale District, Western Uganda, are investigating the death of a 47 year old woman, Gloria Uwimana, who was pursuing a Master’s degree at Uganda Martyrs University. According to Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, Uwimana was found hanging in her shop.
Gloria Uwimana, a resident of Kamukira cell, Kirigime ward, Southern Division, Kabale Municipality, was discovered deceased on Saturday morning. Her husband, Emmanuel Arineitwe, recounted that she had mentioned having coursework to complete before disappearing. However, when he woke up later, her belongings were found in the living room.
Uwimana’s body was discovered by neighbors in her shop. The news was relayed to her husband by Augustine Muwanika, the head teacher of Child Africa, who had learned of her demise.
Following the discovery, Uwimana’s body was taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem examination. Police later confirmed that she had died by suicide.
ASP Maate expressed regret over the incident, urging individuals facing challenges to seek counseling rather than resorting to such drastic measures.
