Cement Mixer Truck Crashes at Nkumba University Traffic Lights

On April 17, 2024, a traffic incident occurred at the Nkumba University traffic lights along the Entebbe-Kampala expressway. The incident involved a cement mixer truck bearing registration number UAN 836D. According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the cement mixer truck lost control of the vehicle, resulting in a collision with the barriers in the middle of the road. Subsequently, the truck fell onto a Mitsubishi RVR with registration number UBQ 371P.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported that there was a single occupant in the Mitsubishi RVR at the time of the collision. Unfortunately, the occupant is presumed to have suffered fatal injuries as their body remains trapped in the wreckage of the vehicle.




Following the collision, the driver of the cement mixer truck reportedly exited the vehicle and sought medical attention at a nearby medical facility for injuries sustained during the incident.




In response to the traffic incident, traffic officers were deployed to the scene to guide motorists and ensure the smooth flow of traffic along the Entebbe-Kampala expressway, particularly at the Nkumba University traffic lights where the incident occurred. Their presence aims to maintain order and safety for both motorists and pedestrians navigating the area.




As investigations into the cause of the accident continue, authorities are working to clear the wreckage from the road and provide assistance to those involved in the incident. Additionally, efforts are being made to retrieve the body of the deceased occupant trapped in the Mitsubishi RVR.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety measures and the need for vigilance while navigating busy roadways. Authorities urge motorists to adhere to traffic regulations and exercise caution to prevent accidents and minimize the risk of harm to themselves and others on the road.
