Pasitore Balyarugahyo, a 56-year-old businessman known for selling Cloud mineral water in Kawempe Division, was found dead in a lodge in Masindi Port around 10:00 am on Sunday. The incident raised concerns when his room remained closed past the standard check-out time of 10:00 am.

The lodge attendant, who had Balyarugahyo’s phone number from the records, tried to call him but received no answer. Worried about the lack of response, she pushed open the door and discovered Balyarugahyo’s body on the bathroom floor.

The lodge manager, who chose to remain anonymous, immediately reported the situation to the police. Officers arrived at the scene quickly and conducted a thorough search for over four hours. They then transported the body to Masindi Main Hospital for a postmortem examination.

Jennifer Nyamaizi, a cleaner at the lodge, recounted that she found the door to Balyarugahyo’s room closed during her routine cleaning. Her suspicion prompted her to alert the lodge attendant, who then contacted the police.

Jacob Chepsikor, the Masindi District Police Commander, emphasized the importance of vigilance among lodge owners and staff when accommodating guests. He also appealed to the public for any information that could help in the investigation.

“Anyone with information regarding his death should come forward and share it with the police. We are actively investigating the case,” Chepsikor said.

The police are continuing their inquiries to uncover the circumstances surrounding Balyarugahyo’s death, seeking to provide answers and ensure justice.
