KAMPALA – Bobi Wine, leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), announced the release of Latif Madoi, a party member who was detained six weeks ago. Madoi was held after providing professional services to the NUP.
Wine expressed joy and relief at Madoi’s return but also condemned the treatment Madoi endured while in detention. “Welcome back from captivity my brother Latif Madoi. It’s a shame what loss, indignity, and humiliation the regime has subjected you to since it detained you six weeks ago for having offered us your professional services,” Wine stated.
Madoi was detained on May 13, and during his time in custody, he faced significant hardships. Bobi Wine criticized the regime for its actions against Madoi and other political prisoners. “We are glad to have you back and hope that your life and business eventually get back to how they were before that fateful 13th of May,” he added.
Wine also used this occasion to call for the release of all political prisoners and the return of individuals detained under similar circumstances. He emphasized the need for justice and the protection of citizens’ rights.
He added that the National Unity Platform continues to advocate for the rights and freedoms of its members and supporters, highlighting the struggles they face under the current regime.
