Martin Ssempa, a prominent Ugandan activist, has made a public appeal for volunteers to help protect the Ugandan embassy in Kenya amidst ongoing protests against the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in the country.

Ssempa, known for his outspoken activism, posted a message on social media platform Twitter, expressing concern over the safety of the Ugandan embassy in Kenya due to the escalating protests. His tweet read: “We can’t allow our Ugandan embassy in Kenya to be burned to the ground in the current people’s struggle against IMF in Kenya. I am looking for volunteers to go and guard the embassy.”

In his tweet, Ssempa tagged fellow Ugandan personalities, including Alien Skin and Kasuku, urging them to join the effort.

The protests in Kenya have been driven by widespread dissatisfaction with the IMF and its economic policies, which many Kenyans blame for increasing their financial hardships. The situation has led to unrest and fears of violence, raising concerns about the safety of foreign embassies, including Uganda’s.
