The National Unity Platform (NUP) initiated its first cohort of learners at the NUP School of Leadership, marking a significant step in its educational endeavors. The orientation for this inaugural group took place on Tuesday, followed promptly by the commencement of Level 1 classes. The school has structured its classes into three distinct categories: Class A for comrades in the informal sector, Class B tailored for professionals, and Class C dedicated to elected leaders.
At Level 1, participants are introduced to foundational modules aimed at building a comprehensive understanding of NUP’s philosophy, encompassing its values, principles, and a focus on gender mainstreaming. Additionally, the curriculum covers Uganda’s constitutional and political history spanning from 1894 to the present day. Key skills such as the art of communication and digital security are also emphasized, alongside introductions to transformative leadership, governance, civic rights, and pathways to political change.
Following the initial two-month Level 1 period, participants who demonstrate notable passion, interest, and commitment will have the opportunity to progress to more advanced Levels 2 and 3. These subsequent levels delve deeper into governance issues and the broader struggle for freedom and democracy. The learning experience is enriched through interactions with guest speakers and subject matter experts across various fields.
The enthusiasm for enrollment in the School of Leadership has surpassed expectations, with a substantial number of comrades and supporters expressing interest in joining. In response to the high demand, efforts are underway to accommodate additional members and potentially offer some course materials online, ensuring broader accessibility and participation.
In a statement on X, the party said its motto “Each One Teach One” encapsulates the spirit of the NUP School of Leadership and reflects its commitment to empowering future leaders through education and collective learning.
