A team of Miss Lango Beauty Contestants, led by Hon. Among Shakila, visited H.H. Eng. Dr. Michael Odongo Okune, Won Nyaci Elect of the Lango Cultural Institution, on Friday morning for an engaging cultural interaction. During the session, Won Nyaci Elect emphasized the importance of good cultural values.
Eng. Dr. Okune commended the team for choosing an environment-based theme for the competition. He urged them to educate people about the dangers of charcoal burning and its impact on tree species. His Highness Won Nyaci also stressed the importance of general home hygiene.
Hon. Among Shakila highlighted the importance of tree planting and its future benefits. She emphasized the value placed on culture, as it reflects the Lango way of life.
Shakila addressed the misconception held by some parents who fear the Miss Lango Beauty Contest might negatively influence young girls. She clarified this is not the case.
The third edition of the Miss Lango Beauty Contest Grand Finale will be held at the Pacific Grand Hotel on July 20, 2024. Shakila mentioned that approximately 10 contestants will be participating.
Get ready to witness an unforgettable evening on Saturday at the Miss Lango 2024 Grand Finale! The event will begin at 6:00 PM sharp at the Pacific Grand Hotel on July 20, 2024. Shakila confirmed the event will include several guests from all walks of life, including clan heads. Contestants will represent all nine Lango districts and Lira City.
Odongo Ali, a cultural leader of the Lango Cultural Institution, encouraged the Miss Lango 2024/2025 contestants to develop a strong vision for development with clear objectives. “Lango should be united to develop the region effectively and without wasting time,” said Odong Ali.
The meeting was attended by Speaker Omodo Omodo Willy (Won Tok), Anna (possibly a representative’s name), media personnel, and Hamza (possibly another attendee’s name), among others.
