Evelyne Ninsiima Kikafunda, President of the Green Environment Program, has restored hope for a 50-year-old blind man, Jack Tumukwasibwe, who has lived with a hernia since birth.

Tumukwasibwe, a teacher at Kisoro Demonstration Primary School and a resident of Kifurugutu Village, Kyigyeyo Ward, Rubanda Town Council, Rubanda District, was born blind. He developed a hernia in his early years.

After doctors at St. Francis Hospital Mutolere in Kisoro District estimated a 1.5 million shilling surgery cost, Tumukwasibwe’s hopes dwindled. However, a chance meeting with Evelyne Ninsiima Kikafunda at a burial ceremony in Muko Sub County last year changed his fortunes. She promised to help.

Thanks to Evelyne Ninsiima Kikafunda’s lobbying, Tumukwasibwe underwent successful hernia surgery at Muko Health Center IV during a medical surgical camp organized by Mission to Heal. Over 60 people benefited from the free surgeries conducted from Monday to Friday.

Byaruhanga Muhammed, African Coordinator of Mission to Heal, praised Evelyne Ninsiima Kikafunda for her unwavering commitment to helping the disadvantaged, regardless of their background.

Evelyne Ninsiima Kikafunda expressed her satisfaction with Tumukwasibwe’s successful surgery. She reaffirmed her dedication to advocating for the people of Rubanda, prioritizing health and sustainable development.
