Lira — Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of the Lango zone, Hon. Sam Engola, has urged NRM Secretary General Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong to allow leaders from the Lango sub-region to meet H.E. the President for political discussions. “Now that people are warming up, this is the time to provide funding, and it must be done early along with the roadmap,” he said.
“Elections are just around the corner; the issue is money. It is better to discuss the facts rather than beat around the bush,” Todwong added.
Engola was addressing hundreds of NRM delegates at an “Entrance Meeting” summoned by the NRM Secretariat at Lira Hotel on Wednesday for the Lango sub-region. “We lose elections and don’t call for a meeting; in Oyam, we lost, and nobody called a meeting,” Engola wondered why such meetings are often absent.

“I, Sam Engola, cannot call for a meeting when there is no money. Today, if you call an NRM meeting, people will ask for transport refunds,” he said. Engola challenged selected NRM dignitaries, stating, “You are the ones who need to contribute to your party, not the party contributing to you.”
He emphasized that the narrative circulating among voters that UPC has taken over Lango is not accurate. “We are on the ground; Kampala does not know,” he asserted. Engola also noted that when the President gives directives, especially regarding ranching, they must be implemented collectively.
He highlighted that in some districts, beneficiaries of government programs are from the opposition, primarily UPC. “The RDC and movement chairperson are trying their best, but there is always a stoppage,” he added.
Betty Engola, Woman MP for Apac District, appealed to the NRM Secretariat to work closely with them and provide several T-shirts to promote the NRM in the Lango sub-region.
