Sheikh Kamugisha Encourages Youth to Develop Leadership Skills and Resist Negative Influences at Kabale Conference

The Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Wakiso District, Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha, has urged the youths of Kigezi Region to avoid early teenage pregnancies and drug abuse

Speaking as an alumnus of St. Mary’s College Rushoroza on Friday 06/12/2024 during the Kabale Diocesan Annual Youth Conference 2024, where over 400 youth and children gathered at School Compound in Rushoroza cell Southern Division Kabale Municipality during the First day of Preaching sessions for the Three-Day Youths Conference.




Speaking as one of the guest speakers, Sheikh Kamugisha who is the hopeful member of parliament for Kabale Municipality emphasized the importance of making responsible choices and avoiding behaviours that can hinder their development.




Sheikh Kamugisha highlighted the detrimental effects of early teenage pregnancies on both the individuals involved and their communities. He stressed that such pregnancies often result in a cycle of poverty and limited opportunities for the young mothers and their children.




He requested them to avoid early pregnancies, the youths can focus on their education and personal growth, setting a strong foundation for their future endeavours.

Sheikh Kamugisha emphasized that the path to effective leadership begins with making the right choices in one’s youth. By avoiding early teenage pregnancies and drug abuse, the youths can lay a solid foundation for their personal and professional development

Sheikh Kamugisha also addressed the growing issue of drug abuse among the youth. He urged the youths to resist the temptation of experimenting with drugs, as it can lead to addiction and a host of other negative consequences. Instead, he encouraged them to seek out healthy and constructive activities that can help them develop essential life skills and prepare for their future roles as leaders.

He advised that Youth must preserve themself today in order to be a leader for tomorrow and you can only preserve yourself if you don’t involve yourselves in acts sniffing petrol, smoking marijuana and excessive drinking of alcohol.

He urged the youths to take charge of their lives, make informed decisions, and strive for excellence in all their endeavours.

Sheikh Kamugisha said that Being a Leader is a Sacrifice not a Luxury because Leadership is about willingness and starting a journey but above all, one must have Natural wisdom like King Solomon and then seek Knowledge from Schools and Churches through learning from both those below you

and above you. Invest your time in looking for knowledge for future Leadership with Discipline because they are vital for Leadership.

Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha further rallied Primary Seven Vacists to begin identifying your Capabilities in Leadership as you join Secondary Level Education because Historical Leaders in Kigezi Region practiced and experienced Leadership when they were still Students







He also remarked that accepting Criticism is Vital for one to become a good leader because it is through it that one discovers the best of their Capacity of solving African Challenges as often highlighted by President Museveni that is Poverty and Identity through religion, tribe and culture.

Sheikh Kassim advised the Youths who want to be Leaders in future to embark on having a Godly element in themselves. He also thanked Bishop Callist Rubaramira, The Bishop of Kabale Catholic Diocese for giving a platform to such activities for the Spiritual nourishment and building for the Youths
