“One tree cannot make a forest,” they say. But one dedicated individual can lay the groundwork for change.
This is the story of Fideli Mubangizi, a man whose humble beginnings in Kasaana Central 1, Kagangi Parish, Rushenyi County, have inspired him to step up and serve his people.
Born the third of ten children to Ms. Kyamanyoha Kadia and Mr. Keijanazo Bernard in Ntungamo District, Mubangizi’s journey has not been easy.
Raised in a peasant family, he learned early that hard work is the key to success. As a young boy, he would sell matooke during school holidays to help raise his school fees.
Despite the struggles, Mubangizi never lost sight of his dreams.
He attended Kagyeyo Primary School, then Bwanga Secondary School in Rukungiri, before pursuing a Bachelor of Commerce at Makerere University, majoring in Accounting.
His academic achievements include becoming a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), a role that reflects his strong sense of responsibility and discipline.
While at university, Mubangizi served as the Minister of Education in the Guild Representative Council, proving his leadership abilities early on.
Now, as he aspires to represent Rushenyi County in Parliament under the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Mubangizi believes that the time has come for the younger generation to lead with zeal and serve the people. He is driven by a deep desire to improve the lives of his constituents.
“There is a lot to be done,” he says, highlighting key issues that affect his people. Despite the presence of National Water, many areas in Rushenyi still lack access to clean water. There is also a widespread lack of electricity, and public schools remain neglected.
Mubangizi, who is a beneficiary of public education himself, is passionate about providing solutions. He intends to bring change by ensuring that all parts of the county have access to essential services like clean water, electricity, and improved healthcare.
To this end, he has already bought land to build a specialized hospital that will cater to the health needs of his people.
He’s also been involved in the construction and repair of shallow wells and boreholes, helping to improve access to clean water. Mubangizi has been a strong supporter of local churches, mosques, and community projects, contributing both financially and through hands-on involvement.
Mubangizi’s passion for sports is evident, as he uses it to empower and connect his community. This Women’s Day, he has organized a football gala where Rubale Sub-County will face Ngoma Sub-County. To make it even more special, Mubangizi has arranged for each attendee to receive a pack of sanitary pads, demonstrating his commitment to the well-being of women.
“My goal is to instill confidence in the youth who have lost hope in their leaders,” he says. “I want them to see that there are leaders who truly care about their voters and are willing to put in the work.”
As an accountant, Mubangizi understands the importance of accountability. He promises to remain politically accountable to his voters, ensuring that their needs are met and that resources are managed properly.
He also has plans to tackle youth unemployment, encouraging the youth to engage in income-generating activities that will provide them with opportunities for a better future.
Fideli Mubangizi is not just a candidate, but a beacon of hope for his community. His leadership is rooted in his experiences, his values, and his desire to make a real difference in the lives of those who have supported him from the start.
As the proverb goes, “The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth.” Mubangizi is here to embrace his village, to guide it towards progress, and to lead it to brighter days.
