Kole District – Mr. Ambrose Ogwal, the Executive Director of Wisdom High School, has taken a leading role in mobilizing parents and stakeholders to support educational standards in the Lango sub-region, particularly in relation to the new curriculum development.

He urged parents in the region to send their children to schools located within Lango to ensure better performance, as many local schools are equipped with quality educational materials, science laboratories, and other necessary resources.

During a radio talk show held on one of the radio stations in Lira City on Friday morning, Ambrose Ogwal emphasized the importance of local support for improving education standards in the Lango sub-region. He noted that 15 years ago, education in Lango was relatively low, but there has been significant improvement in the region, especially in terms of performance, particularly in private schools.

He added that Wisdom High School has excelled under the new curriculum, owing to the availability of internet facilities, science laboratories, and teacher training programs.

Ogwal commended other school directors, including Dr. Olet Patrick of St. Gracious Nursery and Primary School, St. Kizito Nursery and Primary School, Truth Fountain, and Saving Grace Nursery and Primary School, for their contributions to improving education standards in the region.

Wisdom High School, which opened in 2019 with a small number of candidates, has since made great strides in academic performance. The school started with a few Division One candidates but has steadily improved, now producing the highest number of students passing with excellent results. Ogwal highlighted that the school had progressed from 63 candidates in the first grade to the best student achieving 7 As in the 2024 UCE results.

“We are progressing steadily and adding value. For example, the best candidate, who scored 7 As in the recently released UCE results, joined the school with a 16 aggregate. He was a Director of Studies at Namilyango College and is a highly experienced teacher and examiner,” Ogwal explained. “Our school structures have greatly improved, and we encourage parents to visit personally to see the laboratories, library, and other essential facilities for themselves.”

Ogwal also mentioned that Wisdom High School recently participated in a boys’ football competition in Masaka, where the school ranked 11th out of 64 schools nationwide. He noted that the school has maintained a positive and disciplined environment, with no incidents of indiscipline such as drunkenness or fighting. “In the evening, the school is quiet, with students engaged in study, and most importantly, we emphasize the spiritual development of the child through prayer,” he added.

The school also has enough land for future expansion, and Ogwal stressed the importance of developing the local economy through education in the Lango sub-region.

In his closing remarks, Ogwal stated that the school is now admitting Senior Five students. Benson Okello, a 45-year-old parent from Lira City, residing in Anai Ober Ward, praised the school for its excellent academic performance under the new curriculum.
