Lira City, Uganda –– Hundreds of NRM supporters and members of Team Calvin Echodu gathered in Lira City at Silver Peak Hotel and endorsed David Calvin Echodu for the position of NRM National Vice Chairperson, expressing their belief that he will champion a beneficial manifesto for the eastern region and the entire country.
The endorsement event saw strong support for David Calvin Echodu for the NRM National Vice Chairperson, Eastern Region post.
According to Father Alfred Okello Junior of Dokolo district and Hon. Stella Anyango from Oyam district, Echodu represents a new wave of energy within the party deserving of full support.
Echudu is reportedly gaining significant support within the Lango sub-region, demonstrating a fresh dynamism as he campaigns for votes ahead of the NRM primaries.
Acen Christine Ayoo stated that Echodu intervened in 2018 to assist Ugandan children abroad. As an aspirant for the Alebtong Woman MP seat with strong prospects, she pledged her unwavering 100 percent support.
Hon. Anyango Stella, a leader at the event, emphasized that the NRM is a national party that upholds accountability and the rule of law.
She indicated that Echudu will travel across Uganda’s 18 sub-regions as a genuine, capable, and down-to-earth leader to rally NRM supporters to vote for him in the upcoming NRM primaries.
Father Alfred reiterated that some leaders can be deceptive and mislead the people, adding that God disapproves of voters who elect poor leaders. He also mentioned that David Echodu is currently sponsoring over 10,000 individuals.
All districts within the Lango sub-region had strong representation at the gathering.
Musicians, journalists, NRM leaders from the nine districts of Lango and Lira City, and NRM aspirants, including Sarah Awor Angweri (Lira City Woman MP aspirant) and Betty Angom of ONC from Otuke, were among those present.
Beatrice Molly Abang, the Deputy RDC for Lira district and the outgoing NRM chairperson for Dokolo, stated that as her term concludes on May 25, 2025, it is her duty to welcome the many individuals joining the NRM party, emphasizing that the NRM offers free and fair elections with a continuous influx of new members. She affirmed that the people of Lango are steadfast in their commitments as party members.
Molly Kia added that as NRM members, it is their responsibility to make the party vibrant.
Okumu Sepas, son of the late Gen. Oketa Julious (RIP), explained his support for Echodu’s team, stating that some current CEC members only engage with them during campaigns. He declared that Echodu is his chosen candidate and that Echodu represents a brand for Uganda that they should rely on.
