Reliable sources have revealed that Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga, the senior pastor of Life Christian Church and proprietor of Top Media Group, is in the final stages of securing a Shs4 billion deal to purchase La Grand Hotel, a popular establishment located in Bwaise, Kampala.
The hotel, owned by businessman John Bosco Ssenoga, has reportedly been under pressure as Pastor Ssenyonga seeks to expand his real estate and media empire in the area. Sources say the man of God is keen to take over the hotel to establish additional space for his church operations, including relocating Top Radio and Top Television, which are currently part of his media conglomerate.
It is alleged that Pastor Ssenyonga’s desire to acquire the hotel has caused friction between him and the current owner. When Mr. Ssenoga declined the initial offer, sources claim the pastor took alternative measures to make the hotel less hospitable for guests. These reportedly include broadcasting loud prayers and gospel music throughout the day and night, using extended audio equipment from the adjacent church building.
“The hotel rooms are constantly disturbed by high-volume church activity. Some guests have complained and decided not to return,” said a source familiar with the situation.
This campaign of noise and spiritual warfare is said to have significantly affected La Grand Hotel’s customer traffic and reputation—further increasing pressure on the owner to sell.
Pastor Ssenyonga reportedly plans to use the hotel’s premises not only for relocating his media outlets but also to host high-profile visitors, both international and local, affiliated with his ministry. This, he believes, will help reduce operational costs associated with accommodating his guests elsewhere.
The deal, reportedly worth Shs4 billion, is said to be in the final negotiation stages, although no official confirmation has been issued by either party.
If completed, the acquisition of La Grand Hotel would mark another milestone in Pastor Ssenyonga’s growing influence in Bwaise and within Uganda’s Pentecostal movement.
