His Highness Umukuka III of the Bamasaaba people, Jude Mike Mudoma, is set to officially launch the Elgon Creative Industry on September 5th at the renowned Mbale Museum, which operates under the patronage of the Bugisu Cultural Institution.

The launch will mark the opening of the Elgon Festival, a four-day cultural celebration running from September 5th to 8th, according to Hon. Priscilla Khaitsa, Minister in the Bugisu Cultural Institution and promoter of the event.

The festival is expected to attract participants from various neighboring communities and districts, including Bugwere, Teso, Bunyole, and even parts of Kenya, showcasing diverse cultures and creative expressions.

According to Hon. Khaitsa, the event will include a cultural parade, the launch of the “Khuselela” movie, a Lumasaba film on marriage, performances by veteran local musicians, and visits to key tourism sites in the Bugisu region on September 7th.

Steven Masiga, spokesperson for the cultural institution, welcomed the launch of the creative industry, stating:

“As a cultural institution, we welcome our brothers and sisters from neighboring districts to come and showcase their culture. Let us celebrate within the confines of the law, and we appeal for a massive turnout.”

The launch is supported by the Bugisu Cultural Institution, Capital FM, the Uganda Wildlife Authority, and other partners.

During preparations, Hon. Kutoi, the Minister of Culture in the cultural institution, remarked that the oracles have already blessed the event, assuring the public that there will be no rain during the celebrations.
