Muwereza Rogers Extends Eid al-Fitr Greetings, Urges Ugandans to Cherish Peace and NRM Legacy

Lira City, Uganda — As Ugandans prepare to mark the joyous celebration of Eid al-Fitr, Muwereza Rogers, the National Resistance Army/National Resistance Movement (NRA/NRM) Youth Coordinator, has extended heartfelt messages of peace, prosperity, and happiness to all citizens, especially the Muslim community.

In a statement issued ahead of the celebrations, Muwereza urged Ugandans to reflect on the peace and security the country currently enjoys, which he attributed to the enduring efforts of the NRM government since 1986.

“This Eid al-Fitr is not just a time for celebration, feasting, and family, it is also a moment to remember how far we have come as a nation,” Muwereza said. “The peace we enjoy today did not come by chance. It is the fruit of the blood, sacrifice, and resilience of the National Resistance Movement and its leadership under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.”

A well-known youth mobilizer and ideological advocate of the NRM in the Lango sub-region, Muwereza emphasized that Muslims across Uganda should celebrate Eid with gratitude, not only to the Almighty, but also for the country’s political journey that has enabled freedom of worship and cultural expression.

“As our Muslim brothers and sisters conclude this sacred month of fasting, reflection, and prayer, I send my warmest wishes. Eid Mubarak!” he said. “May this blessed day bring peace, prosperity, and happiness to everyone’s life. May Allah (SWT) shower our homes with spiritual wisdom, divine guidance, and unending joy.”

Muwereza also shared personal messages for the season:

“Warmest Eid wishes to you and your family. May the happiness of Eid stay with you always.”
“May this Eid al-Fitr bring you closer to the Almighty and fill your heart with devotion, kindness, and lasting peace.”

Beyond goodwill, Muwereza called on Ugandans to remember the foundational ideals of the NRM—originally known as the National Resistance Army (NRA)—which, he said, fought not for a region or religion, but for every Ugandan.

“The NRM ideology was born out of the NRA struggle for justice, equality, and national unity. Today, we see its fruits in the form of sustained peace, economic progress, wealth creation, and socio-economic transformation. We must safeguard this legacy and protect the NRA/NRM gains by continuing to support the government’s socio-economic transformation agenda,” he said.

He also commended President Museveni for consistently staying in touch with the “Bazukulu” and for maintaining unity, peace, and security among all “Wananchi” in Uganda.

“Uganda stands as an oasis of peace. It is the result of visionary leadership and disciplined governance. As we celebrate Eid, let us also celebrate our nation’s stability and renew our commitment to national cohesion,” Muwereza added.

His message resonated with many youth in Uganda, who praised the current achievements of the NRA/NRM and his ability to blend patriotic sentiment with interfaith goodwill.

As Uganda’s Muslim community prepares for special prayers, charity, and family gatherings, Muwereza’s call serves as a timely reminder of both national peace and individual celebration.
