PLU–NRM Tensions Rise as Kabanda Points Finger at Rivals Over Fake Posts

KAMPALA, Uganda —  The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) Secretary General, Daudi Kabanda, has accused political rivals of allegedly forging his social media posts in what has sparked a fresh wave of political tension online.

Kabanda, who also serves as a Member of Parliament and is identified within PLU structures as PO 005, shared what he described as evidence of a fake post allegedly targeting Information Minister Chris Baryomunsi while promoting PO 027 Eng. Sam Kajojo.

He further claimed that rival political actors, including NRM Communications Director Emmanuel Dombo, were allegedly funding bloggers to attack him and the Chief of Defence Forces Muhoozi Kainerugaba.

The allegations quickly sparked reactions online, with Dombo reportedly responding in a light-hearted manner, downplaying the accusations.

The controversy comes at a time of growing political realignments within PLU, including reported withdrawal of support for some parliamentary leaders such as Speaker Anita Annet Among.

This has fueled speculation of widening rifts between PLU and the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) ahead of anticipated leadership shifts.

While Kabanda has maintained that the alleged posts were forged, there is currently no independent verification of the claims.

However, the exchange has gained significant attention on social media, with sections of the public showing support for Kabanda amid the unfolding political spat.
