RUBANDA – Rubanda District has unveiled an ambitious development plan for the 2026/27 financial year, with major investments earmarked for health, education, water, and road infrastructure aimed at improving service delivery across the district.
The District Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), Samuel Ahabwe, announced the projects while addressing journalists at the district headquarters, saying the district is ready to implement several key initiatives after successfully completing the recruitment of staff.
According to Ahabwe, all newly recruited personnel have already reported for duty, positioning the district to effectively execute its planned programmes.
Among the flagship projects is the completion of the Rubanda District Administration Block, which will cost Shs 600 million, as well as the District Health Office Block, estimated at Shs 244 million.
In the education sector, the district plans to construct new classroom blocks at Bukwata Primary School, Kelele Primary School, Bugarama Primary School, and Nyamasizi Primary School to improve the learning environment for pupils.
The district will also construct VIP latrines in several schools to enhance sanitation and hygiene. The beneficiary schools include Mukyibaya Primary School, Isingiro Primary School, Kagoye Primary School, Ndego Primary School, and Burimbe Primary School.
To boost agricultural productivity, Ahabwe said the district will continue supporting farmers through micro-irrigation schemes aimed at increasing food production and improving household incomes.
Under the water sector, Rubanda District will focus on completing the Bushuura Water Supply System at a cost of Shs 53 million and protecting six natural springs at an estimated cost of Shs 20 million to expand access to safe and clean water.
In road infrastructure, the district will prioritize the construction of road crossings and routine road maintenance to improve connectivity and ease transportation within the district.
Ahabwe attributed the district’s continued development to the strong collaboration between the political leadership and the technical team, as well as the support of the Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Henry Musasizi.
He expressed confidence that the planned projects will significantly improve public service delivery and contribute to the socio-economic transformation of Rubanda District during the current financial year.
