In a sad incident that occurred on Monday, October 16, 2023, a child lost her life in Wakiso District due to drowning in a drainage channel following heavy rainfall. The deceased has been identified as 5-year-old Favour Mukisa, the daughter of Ms. Prossy Nabukenya, who resides in Katooke A within Nansana Municipality.
Ms. Nabukenya shared that around 2 pm, shortly after the rain had stopped, she allowed her daughter to go and play with her friends, but the child did not return home. Concerned, she began searching for her daughter within the neighborhood, but nobody knew her whereabouts. It was later brought to her attention that the body of a young girl had been discovered at the Kageye channel, which separates Katooke A Zone and Nabweru North II Village.
Residents of the area, including Mr. Joseph Kizito, the Defense Secretary of Nabweru North II Village, speculated that the heavy rainfall might have carried the child from a nearby trench close to her home and deposited her in their village.
