Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Tom Magambo Rwabugondo, Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), delivered a compelling lecture to 1,114 secondary school teachers from Western Uganda participating in a patriotism training course held at Ntare School in Mbarara On September 3, 2025.
AIGP Magambo used the opportunity to trace Uganda’s historical journey—from the eras of colonial rule and political turbulence to a renewed push for unity and progress. He emphasized that understanding this past is essential for educators who shape the minds of tomorrow’s leaders.
At the heart of his presentation were Uganda’s strategic pillars: patriotism, Pan-Africanism, strategic security, and socio-economic transformation—all aimed at fostering a prosperous, resilient nation. Magambo stressed that these ideals must go beyond rhetoric by guiding action in classrooms and communities.
“Teachers can ignite national pride… by instilling values of discipline, responsibility, and civic mindedness in our youth,” he told the educators.
This initiative is part of a broader push by the government to strengthen civic education in schools. Empowering teachers with ideological grounding is seen as a critical step in nurturing a generation that is not only academically prepared but also deeply invested in the country’s future.
By the end of the day, participants left with a renewed sense of purpose: to teach not just facts, but values—thereby ensuring that Uganda’s next generation is literate, patriotic, and ready to contribute to national transformation.
