Bugisu clan chairmen receive iPads to support them in cultural work

MBALE, Uganda — The spokesperson of Bugisu cultural institution, Steven Masiga, has told this publication that clan chairmen from Bugisu cultural institution have each received an iPad, which will go a long way in supporting them in capturing data in their clans.

Masiga said that the iPads were donated to His Highness the Umukuka by Uganda Bureau of Standards with the sole purpose of helping cultural, traditional, and interreligious councils in their work.

The Umukuka of Bugisu, His Highness Jude Mike Mudoma, has so far equipped every minister in the cultural institution with a brand new iPad. Other groups which got the iPads include LCV chairpersons-elect for every district in Bugisu, about 30 journalists, and clan chairmen among other groups.

Masiga said they expect clan chairmen to meaningfully use the iPads to capture clan-related data and feed it into the cultural database at the cultural institution.

Bugisu region has over 2,000 sub-clans according to the cultural data available, and a population estimated at about 4 million people.
