Dr. Kulthum Nabunya returned from a trip to Canada and promptly defended her husband, Akram Gumisiriza. He had recently faced legal trouble after an incident involving a sex worker. Gumisiriza had a disagreement with a woman he met on Salaama Road, leading to his arrest and a night spent in Katwe Police Station.

The woman accused Gumisiriza of threatening her with a knife and demanded compensation of Shs 20 million. Speaking to reporters at Entebbe International Airport, Dr. Kulthum explained that she had been following the situation online and had spoken to her husband. He provided an explanation for the incident.

Dr. Kulthum clarified that the public’s reaction was excessive, as their marriage is open, and her husband had not violated their agreed-upon terms. She pointed out that, being a Muslim man, he had the right to marry multiple women. She dismissed the notion of her husband’s involvement with other women as insignificant.

She further described her husband as a “gentleman” and criticized those who seemed to be pursuing him for financial gain or out of jealousy. She urged people to let the matter rest. Akram Gumisiriza had previously admitted to cheating on his wife and disclosed that he and the sex worker had undergone a blood test in an earlier YouTube interview.
