Soroti City, Uganda — Uganda Police Force in the East Kyoga Region have arrested eleven suspects in connection with the aggravated robbery and fatal shooting of a mobile money operator in Soroti City.
The victim, Kokunda Patricia, a 36-year-old businesswoman, was shot dead in the early hours of April 3, 2026, near Goalman Supermarket along Station Road. According to police, the attackers fled with her handbag containing cash and other valuables.
Police say swift response and intelligence-led operations across Soroti, Amuria, Kalaki, and Abim districts led to a major breakthrough, with arrests rising from four initial suspects to eleven.
Among those in custody is Emenyu David, also known as Ogwang Sam or Olipong, who is believed to have pulled the trigger. Epeu Simon, alias Iboda, is suspected to have forcibly removed the victim from her vehicle, while Okello Emmanuel, alias Imorning, is described as one of the key planners.
Police further identified Eyamu Rashid, alias Odekuro, as the alleged initiator of the robbery plot, and Elacu Alfred, alongside his wife Akello Hellen, as suspected suppliers of ammunition.
Other suspects include Okello Alex, Ojele Jorem alias Jogo, Elwanu Julius, Onebo Felix, and Akello Salume, who is said to be the wife of the suspected shooter.
Authorities have recovered key exhibits, including a rifle believed to have been used in the shooting, ammunition, clothing worn during the attack, a red motorcycle without a number plate, and a Tecno Canon phone belonging to the deceased.
Police also confirmed the recovery of UGX 10.5 million, part of the estimated UGX 28 million stolen during the robbery.
Investigations are ongoing to apprehend remaining suspects and dismantle the wider criminal network believed to be behind the organized attack.
Police have urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any credible information that could aid ongoing investigations.
