Kampala, Uganda — A total of 1,351 students have graduated from Team University during its 16th graduation ceremony, held at Pope Paul Memorial Hotel in Kampala, with leaders urging them to uphold integrity, discipline, and become agents of positive change in society.
According to the breakdown announced by the university Chancellor, Prof. Tarasis Kabwegyere, the graduates included 211 master’s degree holders, 495 bachelor’s degree holders, 180 postgraduate diploma recipients, 200 certificate holders, and 255 diploma graduates. Of the total, 562 were female and 779 were male.
Prof. Kabwegyere commended the graduates for their resilience, innovation, leadership, and integrity, noting that these qualities had enabled them to complete their studies successfully. He challenged them to use their skills to transform communities, fight corruption, and promote accountability and professionalism in their respective fields.
Speaking at the same ceremony, the Vice Chancellor of Team University, Prof. Lutaro Bosa, congratulated the graduates and their families for their sacrifice and support throughout the academic journey. He advised graduates not to compromise their integrity for short-term gains, urging them to embrace lifelong learning, discipline, wisdom, and moral values as they transition into the world of work.
He further emphasized that education should be viewed as a long-term investment capable of transforming households and communities through innovation, problem-solving, and accountability.
The Chairperson of the University Council, Most Rev. Dr. Leonard Lubega, cautioned graduates against social vices such as corruption, drug abuse, sexual immorality, and alcoholism, warning that these could derail their future success. He noted that Team University has grown into a center of academic excellence, producing skilled, modern, and morally upright graduates contributing to national development through research and innovation.
The Chief Guest, Richard Byarugaba, Executive Director in charge of Finance at the Bank of Uganda, encouraged graduates to embrace hard work, innovation, value addition, and a positive mindset. He urged them to become problem-solvers in their communities and uphold professionalism in their careers.
He also commended Team University for its commitment to competence-based education, saying the institution is playing a key role in equipping graduates with practical skills that match labour market demands and support meaningful livelihoods.
University leaders reaffirmed their commitment to delivering quality education aimed at shaping responsible citizens capable of contributing to national and global development.
