Ugandan film ‘Bedroom Chains,’ focusing on women’s empowerment, is set to be showcased on Qatar Airways flights, marking a significant milestone for the film’s creators.
Nisha Kalema, who serves as both a co-producer and actor in the project, shared a promotional poster highlighting the collaboration between the film and the airline. She expressed her enthusiasm and confirmed that passengers traveling to and from Uganda would have the opportunity to watch the movie during their flights.
In an interview with local press, Kalema expressed her joy at the film’s remarkable success. She emphasized that this achievement underscores the numerous awards and accolades the film has received at various ceremonies and festivals.
Kalema also pointed out that such accomplishments have the potential to pave the way for more Ugandan film projects and contribute to the growth of Uganda’s tourism sector.
“We are delighted to have the movie featured on Qatar Airways; it’s a dream we have always had. This means a lot to us as a team. A movie made in our native language has the potential to showcase our country to the world. Its cinematic appeal could attract more tourists to Uganda. This is a breakthrough for our local film industry, and I believe other films will follow suit,” she added.
‘Bedroom Chains’ received over six nominations and won two awards at the Uganda Film Festival in 2022. Additionally, it secured four awards at the seventh edition of the Lake International Pan African Film Festival held in Kenya on November 5, 2022.
The film also earned multiple nominations at The African Film and Arts Festival, Silicon Valley Film Festival, Durban International Film Festival, and various other prestigious events.
