Ambassador Khelifi’s efforts have contributed to advancing mutual interests and cooperation between Uganda and Algeria, leaving a positive imprint on the diplomatic relations between the two nations.


President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni bid farewell to Mohamed Khelifi, the outgoing Ambassador of Algeria to Uganda, on Thursday at State House, Entebbe.

During the farewell meeting, President Museveni conveyed his best wishes to Ambassador Khelifi for his future endeavors. He expressed confidence that the efforts initiated during Khelifi’s tenure would continue to foster and bolster the bilateral relations between Uganda and Algeria.

In response, Ambassador Khelifi expressed his gratitude to Uganda for the warm reception and hospitality extended to him during his time in the country.

Ambassador Khelifi presented his credentials to President Museveni on December 14, 2023, at State House, Entebbe, marking the formal beginning of his diplomatic mission in Uganda.

Throughout his tenure, Ambassador Khelifi played a pivotal role in strengthening political ties between Uganda and Algeria. He particularly focused on enhancing trade, investment, and business opportunities, with a significant emphasis on Algeria importing milk from Uganda.

In December 2023, Ambassador Khelifi addressed Ugandan students who had pursued studies in Algeria under the Algeria Alumni Association. During a dinner event in Kampala, he highlighted the importance of finalizing the Algeria-Uganda milk deal as a priority agenda item.
