Meet the Boss Returns With Bold New 2026 Marketplace Vision for Uganda’s Innovators

The energy inside MotiV Innovation Hub on Friday was unmistakable.

Young entrepreneurs, investors, media personalities, and corporate leaders filled the venue as Meet the Boss, one of Uganda’s long-running networking platforms, unveiled a new chapter aimed at doing more than just hosting conversations.

This time, the mission is bigger.

After nearly a decade of bringing together leaders from different sectors, the platform has now transformed into Meet the Boss Marketplace, an expanded innovation and enterprise forum designed to connect ideas with capital, mentorship, and market opportunities.

Speaking at the relaunch, Public Relations Director Peter Kakooza described the move as a deliberate shift from inspiration to impact.

“For years, we have built trust as a platform that brings leaders and ambitious young people into one room. Now the focus is on creating direct pathways for opportunity, funding and growth,” Kakooza said.

Unlike previous editions that were largely evening networking sessions, the new format introduces a full-day experience running from morning until late evening, featuring business pitch sessions, policy dialogue, panel discussions and direct access to investors.

From the atmosphere on ground, it was clear the organizers are positioning the platform as more than an event.

It is being presented as a launchpad.

The first marketplace edition is scheduled for April 30, with a major focus on ICT and innovation, while additional editions are lined up for July and November 2026.

Among the key highlights announced was the expected appearance of Dr. Lawrence Muganga, who will headline the upcoming edition as the featured “boss of the night.”

For many young innovators present, the relaunch appeared to answer a long-standing challenge: access.

Several attendees said the biggest barrier has never been lack of ideas, but rather lack of visibility and structured spaces where innovators can meet decision-makers.

That message was strongly echoed by keynote speaker Dr. Roussan Etienne, who described Uganda as a country rich in untapped potential.

> “Uganda already has the talent, the ideas and the drive. What remains is connecting that potential to finance and global networks,” he said.

His remarks drew applause from the audience, especially when he described Uganda as an emerging innovation force on the continent.

Media partners also emphasized the significance of the new direction.

Representatives from local media houses noted that many promising entrepreneurs often remain invisible simply because they do not know where to find platforms that connect them to investors and industry leaders.

Friday’s relaunch suggested that Meet the Boss wants to fill exactly that gap.

From the startup founders pitching ideas in small circles to the high-level discussions taking place across the venue, the mood on ground pointed to a platform trying to reposition itself as a bridge between ambition and execution.

For Uganda’s growing innovation ecosystem, the success of this model may well depend on whether the conversations begun in the room can translate into actual funding, partnerships and business growth.

But if the momentum witnessed at MotiV is anything to go by, Meet the Boss is betting that Uganda’s next big ideas will no longer remain on paper.
