MP Sam Engola Empowers 48 Top PLE Performers in Erute South with Mattresses

LIRA, Uganda  — The MP-elect for Erute South Constituency, Hon. Sam Engola, has offered to support 48 pupils in the entire Erute South Constituency who sat for PLE 2025 as they embark on their secondary education journey.

The 48 lucky pupils will each receive a mattress as they start Senior One (S1).

In a heartwarming gesture of goodwill and community investment, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Erute South Constituency, Hon. Sam Engola, has pledged to support 48 Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) candidates as they transition to Senior One (S1) in secondary school. Each of the selected students will receive a brand-new mattress to ease their entry into boarding school life.

The initiative, announced during a community gathering in Lira District, aims to alleviate some of the financial burdens faced by parents and guardians in the constituency and to encourage academic excellence among young learners. The 48 beneficiaries—comprising both boys and girls from various primary schools across Erute South—were selected based on their best performance in the 2025 PLE exams.

“This is not just about a mattress,” said Hon. Engola, addressing students, parents, and local leaders at the event. “It is about sending a clear message: we believe in you. Education is the foundation of a better future, and every child deserves support as they take their next step.”

The Erute South MP-elect emphasized that the gesture is part of his broader commitment to promoting better education in the constituency. He urged the pupils to remain focused, work hard in school, and aspire to become future leaders not only of Erute South but of the entire nation.

Parents and guardians expressed overwhelming gratitude for the MP’s timely intervention. “Many of us struggle to afford even basic items for our children going to boarding school,” said Mary, mother of one of the beneficiaries in Amach Sub-county. “Hon. Engola’s kindness means my daughter can start school with dignity. We thank him from the bottom of our hearts.”

Hon. Pamela Angwech praised the initiative as both practical and inspirational. “When leaders invest in education, they invest in the future. This act of generosity will motivate other students to work hard and aim high.”
