Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) has fully transitioned to cashless payment methods for its services, aiming to streamline payment processes and mitigate risks linked with handling physical currency.
Customers can now access KAA services via their mobile phones using the USSD code *566#. They can select their preferred airport and proceed to make payments for various services including parking, airport passes, penalties, security passes, film shooting, and miraa transportation.
This shift aligns with President William Ruto’s directive to digitize public institutions, aiming to streamline government services and curb revenue losses. The digitization of government payments is anticipated to boost revenue collection, reduce collection costs, and enhance service delivery.
Felix Koskei, Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, commended the government’s digitalization efforts, noting that since government services became available on e-citizen, the state has been generating Sh281 million daily in revenue.
