I will never trust the fight against corruption in this country anymore if Anita is set free

Steven Ariong

Ugandans are watching, and they will consider any statements from top government officials about fighting corruption laughable if the former Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, is set free without facing court while other ministers remain in prison.

Honestly, if the former Speaker is set free, I will advocate for a new curriculum to be introduced in schools where children learn how to become professional thieves instead of role models.

Last time, I wrote that the approach used in handling a corruption case involving the former Speaker of Parliament would be used to deal with corrupt officials in local governments.

Forgiving Among at this moment without producing her before a court of law would be the biggest mistake.

Hon. Among should make Ugandans believe that the laws in Uganda are not applied selectively. Setting her free at this moment would make the 12th Parliament the worst Parliament. It has started well, but wait until Among returns.

In the Uganda Wildlife Authority, when they find a dangerous animal, they tend to isolate it from others. Therefore, my prayer is that the government isolates Among first. She can be reintegrated later, but not now.

If there had been no evidence found at her residence, I would say that nothing was recovered. However, with all the overwhelming evidence that Ugandans have seen, setting the suspect free would be unbelievable.

I would like to request our mighty Badman General Muhoozi Kainerugaba to stand firm against any obstacles and ensure that the former Speaker faces the law.
