Deputy IGG Anne Twino Muhairwe Elected First Vice President of African Ombudsman and Mediators Association

Deputy Inspector General of Government, Anne Twino Muhairwe, secured the position of the first vice president of the African Ombudsman and Mediators Association (AOMA in a significant development during the 7th General Assembly held in Kigali, Rwanda. This election followed a competitive process, with Muhairwe contending against candidates from Gabon.

AOMA serves as a regional organization dedicated to ombudsman and mediators across Africa. Currently, it boasts a membership of 39 African states.




The primary objectives of AOMA revolve around fostering the establishment of ombudsman institutions in Africa, facilitating the exchange of information, offering training and development opportunities for ombudsman offices and their staff, promoting principles of good governance, ensuring the autonomy and independence of ombudsman offices, and fostering connections between ombudsman offices and other pertinent institutions and organizations.
