The Uganda National Examination Board (UNEB) has postponed the exams for students who failed their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) exams last year under the old curriculum.

A total of 14,879 candidates fell short of the requirements and have been advised to re-sit the examination, considering that 2023 marked the final year of implementing the old curriculum.

This is the last chance for these students to retake the exams under the old system, as 2023 marked the final year of its implementation. Originally scheduled for June and July 2024, the exams will now be held concurrently with exams for students following the new curriculum.

“We have adjusted the dates to allow for a smoother process for both sets of students,” explained UNEB Executive Director Dan Odongo. Registration for these exams will also take place alongside the regular registration for this year’s exams.

Earlier this month, UNEB Chairperson Prof. Celestino Obua announced this one-time opportunity for students who:

  • Failed the 2023 UCE exams
  • Did not register for the 2023 exams
  • Registered but did not attend the exams

This chance also extends to adult learners who are studying independently.
